1250th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of St. Boniface
5th June, 2004

Summer 2004 will be a time of international commemoration of the martyrdom of St. Boniface and celebrations of his life. The main celebrations will be in Crediton, his birthplace, Dokkum in the Netherlands, the place of his martyrdom and Fulda in Germany, where he is buried. These are the three principle towns on the international Boniface Trail and their major events will be co-ordinated as far as possible to allow people to celebrate together in all three places if they so wish.

In Crediton, religious celebrations on 5th June will centre on the Catholic Church, which is the National Shrine, while the Parish Church hosts its annual flower festival. The main community events will take place from 19th - 27th June. There will be a civic service of thanksgiving in the Parish Church on 21st June.

For further information or if you can help in any way with events or with funding for the Crediton programme, please contact Crediton Tourist Information Centre, Tel/Fax 01363 772006 Email:
